What email providers do you currently support?
Xoopit officially support all Gmail, Google Mail and Google Apps for Your Domain (Team Edition, Premier Edition, etc). Xoopit will automatically recognize email addresses for anyone using those services.
What if I use email from another provider?
We are working hard at rolling out versions of Xoopit for you! Signup if you want to hear more when we roll out for your mail provider.
Why do I need IMAP turned on?
Xoopit needs to be able to index your email in order to show you the great content you've lost in your inbox. Thanks to the folks at Google, Gmail provides a secure communication protocol, called IMAP, that we can use.
What if I use Outlook?
If you use Outlook to read your Gmail, you can still use Xoopit. Just signup and go to www.xoopit.com when you want to login.
How do I get an invite code?
We are always expanding capacity and taking on more users. Signup here to get on the list.
What do I do to signup?
Just enter your Gmail or Google Mail email address and password. That's it! We verify your account with Google from there!
How do I delete my account?

Privacy

How do you protect my privacy?
We take privacy very seriously. We believe what is in your email is for you. Items in your Xoopit account are for your eyes only unless you explicitly publish them. We also go to great lengths to make sure our technology is secure. For starters all of our communication with Gmail is done over secure communication. Second, we encrypt sensitive account information. Third, we have stringent rules internally on who can access our users data.
What data do you store?
We currently store Gmail username and password in order to be able to communicate with Gmail. We also keep a copy of your email so we can keep bringing you new features as we release them. For items we find that are on the rest of the web, we just store a reference to those items (think of it like a bookmark or favorite in your browser).
Why do you ask me for my Gmail password?
In order to provide the Xoopit service, we need to index your mail. Gmail's IMAP support requires that we have your email address and password.

General Usage

What are the different way I can use Xoopit?
Xoopit provides three different services to interact with your data. First, you can always go to www.xoopit.com. Second, you can install our Firefox plugin which puts Xoopit right into your Gmail. Third, you can use our iGoogle gadget.

Just click here.
Where did all this great stuff in my account come from?
Xoopit indexes your email to find all the great stuff you have in there. Generally our users are amazed to see all the photos, videos and files hiding away in their email.
What are you doing with my email after I signup?
Xoopit indexes your email content to find all the photos, videos and files either attached to your email or linked to other sites on the web. We also find interesting connections between you and the rest of people you interact with over email.
How do I search for stuff from a person?
There are several ways to do this. First, just type the person's name into the search bar. Second, you can type the email address for that person in the search bar. Third, you can use the person box when looking at photos, videos or files. Again, just type the person's name!
Can I combine people if I know they are the same?

Firefox plugin for Gmail

Do I need to use the Firefox plugin in order to use Xoopit?
Nope! You can always access the same content at www.xoopit.com.
How do I install the Firefox plugin?
Just click here and follow instructions. It is as easy as 1, 2, 3. First, allow plugins to be installed from www.xoopit.com. Second, download the plugin and click Install. Third, restart Firefox.
I'm having trouble with the Firefox plugin, what can I do?
First, make sure you are using Firefox 2.x. We are working on support for Firefox 3.x. Second, make sure you are using the newer version of Gmail. If you are using the newer version you will see 'Older Version' in the top right of Gmail near the 'Settings' link. If you are not using the most recent version of Gmail, you can switch this yourself under Settings or ask your domain administrator to do it for you.
I use both a Gmail and Google for Your Domain account, how can I switch between them?
Right now you need to manually log out of one account and then login to the other. Over time we will hopefully be able to log you in automatically based on which Gmail account you are using.

Where did the name came from?
We were inspired by the notion of your email as a big bowl of soup. We liked the idea of "chuck it in the soup." We then do all the work to cherry pick the yummy stuff for you!
