My Photos for Yahoo! Mail
-
- What is My Photos, and who provides this service?
- My Photos is an application for the Yahoo! Mail environment designed to make your email better and more social by showing you your photos and letting you share new and old ones. My Photos is provided by Xoopit Inc.
- Why do I have to agree to so many legal-looking screens to use the application?
- Yahoo! wants to be sure that you understand that My Photos is separate from the actual Yahoo! Mail application, and that it is not operated by Yahoo! directly. We at Xoopit understand that your security and privacy are of critical importance, and your trust is not something we take lightly. We use industry best practices to store all data. Xoopit works much like other mail clients that connect to Yahoo!, such as your desktop mail program or cell phone. See questions below for more about what data we access and store.
- Are all of my photos public now?
- Absolutely not. My Photos will discover and show you photos you've received in email, but unless you explicitly share those photos by email, by using the "Get Link" function, or by uploading and creating a Photo Page, no one but you is able to view them.
- Who can see photos that I put on Photo Pages? Are those public?
- Photo Pages use randomized, non-guessable URLs, which are known only to you and anyone who you share them with. Nobody else is notified that the Photo Page exists, and they are not searchable through Google or Yahoo! search. If you decide that a Photo Page should no longer be available to people who you sent the link to, you can always delete the page from inside the My Photos "Photo Pages" tab. This will make the page and the images private once again.
- What does My Photos do with my Yahoo! Mail account?
- My Photos will electronically read and index your mail, and for some features will gather your Yahoo! contacts. We do not change, move or delete any of your mail. Xoopit does not have access to your password.
- What data does Xoopit store, and how is it stored?
- My Photos only indexes email that contain useful data such as photos, videos, or files. For each of these emails,
Xoopit stores a representation of the text of mail for fast searching, thumbnail versions of attached images,
and information about remote images and videos (e.g. location of URL, title, etc). Xoopit does not store file
attachments. We continue to reduce what My Photos stores. My Photos may, however, index other types
of data in the future to offer more features.
Xoopit stores your data securely in professionally-operated datacenters. We also have a rigorous internal policy designed to avoid your data being tampered with, or viewed by anyone but you. - By using My Photos, am I giving Xoopit any license to content in my email?
- All content in your email is yours. When using My Photos you still retain all copyright and other rights to this information. My Photos has features that allow you to share or publish content to external places, and other rights and terms will apply, depending on the situation.
- Does Xoopit sell or do other commercial things with my data?
- Your data is your data. Xoopit does not sell your data. We may show advertisements inside the My Photos application in the future, just like other webmail and Internet applications. These advertisements may rely on aggregate and/or non-personally identifying information to display ads to you.
- How do I delete my account?
- You may delete your account at any time from within the My Photos application. Simply open the application, click the "Options" button in the lower right of the application, choose "Settings", and delete your account. After one hour, all of your account's information will be deleted from Xoopit servers.
- Where can I find out more?
- Please see Xoopit's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for more information on the practice described here.
